Dynamic inking control

With the option “Dynamic inking control” for DensiTronic/DensiTronic Professional, KBA offers an expansion module capable of reducing inking-related makeready waste by up to 80 per cent. At the same time, all ink setting processes are accelerated considerably.

A conventional control algorithm necessarily leads to the desired densities for each ink key and each printing unit being attained at different times, with the result that the duration of an ink setting process is determined by the slowest ink zone. This is particularly noticeable when working with low area coverages of less than 5 per cent. Through the targeted “over-reaction” of individual ink keys, the dynamic inking control is able to bring the densities of the whole ink profile into line together at a specified time. Even with area coverages below 5 per cent, the defined setpoint can already be attained after 120 sheets. In a similar manner, a considerably shorter time is required to reduce any excessively inked zones.
