DensiTronic Professional
DensiTronic Professional is a 2D spectral measurement and control system serving to maintain and document print quality. The human eye judges the printed results in the delivery of the press according to their colour impression (visual perception). On the press itself, on the other hand, the ink films are measured and controlled on the basis of densities (intensity, ink application per unit of area). It is this inconsistency which so often causes difficulties when attempting to match the colour of a printed sheet. The outstanding feature of DensiTronic Professional is the innovative, air-cushioned dual-purpose measuring head incorporating both densitometer and spectrometer functions. It uses not only ink densities in colour bars as its control variables, but also spectral values within the image. Deviations in target densities, target colour coordinates and other quality parameters, such as dot gain, trapping, etc., are detected and indicated much faster than is possible with a hand-held device. Ideally, the DensiTronic Professional desk stands directly alongside the press console, though it is equally feasible to install the system at a central point to serve as a quality control station for several presses. In conjunction with a network printer, DensiTronic Professional is also an excellent tool for comprehensive quality documentation.
Benefits
- Combination of spectral measurement (visual perception) and densitometry (ink film thickness) in a single system
- No subjective colour assessment, but instead precise measurement and control Ink density control at the press (faster makeready and more reliable production, by way of off-press measurements along the colour bars)
- Spectral and densitometric measurements for process monitoring (ink contamination, trapping, doubling, dot gain)
- Quality reports to document the quality of a printed job in accordance with DIN ISO 9000 and PSO
- Autonomous or fully networked operation
- Faster makeready
- Ideal link between press room and prepress
- 4 density channels CMYK (narrow band, polarisation filter); scanning of colour bars at 200 mm/s;density range: 0 … 2.50 D; reproducibility < 1%
- 256-channel spectrometer (400 …850 nm); measuring speed: 10 spectra per second, without intermediate travel and polarisation filter; reproducibility < 0.1 deltaE
