Plate Ident

Plate Ident is an inline reader system for the printing plates. Sensors incorporated directly into each printing unit permit detection and monitoring of the plate position for changing, identification by way of data matrix codes, and presetting of the colour registration.

Function

The position of each plate is checked directly during plate changes. Subsequently, an optional data matrix code can be read and compared with the specified job data. In this way, errors due to incorrectly sorted plates are eliminated. Special register marks also permit pre-registration of the colour separations before actual printing.

Use

The system functions fully automatically during plate change. If a plate is not mounted correctly, or if the data code does not match the current job, a warning is given to the operator at the console. After successful mounting of the plates, the register marks are evaluated and each printing unit is adjusted for optimum alignment.
